BLOUIN, Dean Allen February 27, 1950 - January 1, 2017
Was called home to the Lord in the early morning of January 1, 2017, in Vancouver, WA. Dean was born in Mount Vernon, WA on February 27, 1950 to Dean H Blouin and DeMaris A. Johnston. He was pre-deceased by his father and brothers Douglas Baney, Donald Baney and Terry Blouin, as well as his grandparents, Ernest M. and Edna (Small) Johnston and Nathan M. and Neal (Gilbert) Blouin. He is survived by his son, Frank Blouin; mother, DeMaris (Johnston) Bounds; stepmother, Ella Gay Blouin; sisters, Debbie Schollmeyer, Candy Etten, Sandra Nelson and Deana Mitchell; brothers, Derry Blouin and Martin Blouin; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, step children and grandchild. Dean developed a passion for flying early in life and at age 8 tried to trade his sister Candy for a small plane.
Dean joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1970 where he flew helicopters. He was shot down several times. He later moved to Spokane to work for in Quality Control for Bayliner and finally realized his dream to own a Cessna and spend many hours in the air. An avid drummer, Dean played in a band around the Spokane and Northern Idaho area to express his love of music. Dean was an active member in the Valley Ford Church near Spokane. His faith gave him strength to overcome adversity, first when his lost a leg in 1990 due to a drunk driver and again in 2006 when he suffered a major stroke. His deep and abiding faith would not let him give up and continually strove to keep moving forward. In 2010, Dean and his sister, Candy moved to the Vancouver area to be closer to family. Dean was loved by many friends and family and his indomitable spirit and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
There will be a graveside service at 1 pm, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Greenhills Cemetery, in Burlington, WA followed by a potluck Celebration of Life at Sandra Nelson's home in Bow, WA. Share your memories of Dean and sign the online guest register at www.lemleychapel.com.
